Contracts are 2 years over here. Buying a sim card without a phone is normal over here, unlike in America. I was in the US a couple years ago for 3 months and was surprised I couldn't just pick up a pre-paid sim. (I assume you are from the US)

Firstly , just configure the iPhone to your com and you have iTunes there once you download it so putting music and pictures are definites .

Secondly , without a data plan , you can only connect to the Internet with wifi . So with wifi , facebook etc is all possible .

Lastly , I don't know what AT%26amp;T is but I used my own sim into my iPhone , it's the exact same amount to pay and I also upgraded it for data plan for just under $20 .

If you are using the iPhone with AT%26amp;T, you can not disable the data plan. AT%26amp;T can detect it through the IMEI number hard set on it, and it can't be changed in any way. Unlocking and jailbreaking it won't matter much, since AT%26amp;T can still detect the iPhone. You won't be able to use the SIM card on your HTC. That won't make the phone work on your plan. Each cell phone has a unique identification code, and when you buy a new phone, your service provider needs to know that number so they can associate it with your account. Then when you turn that phone on, they know that the signal belongs to you and your account.

Putting the SIM card in a different phone will not make that happen. It probably won't even fit in the HTC phone anyway. When you add an internet-capable phone to your account, you will be required to upgrade your service plan to accommodate it. It's more expensive but it's really for your own convenience - smart phones can use a LOT of data really fast, and overages are expensive!

Soooo if you want a smart phone, what you really need to do first is call your cell provider or go in to the store to discuss your options. If you're thinking about buying from an outside source like ebay, make sure you discuss that as well, and that you understand exactly how it will affect your plan and what kind of phones you are able to use.

I think your confusing a SIM card with an SD card. The SIM is what links your acct to the phone. An SD card is for storage. There is no such thing as a 24MB card, 24GB maybe, but thats an odd amount. Typical is a 16GB. Most newer phones can take up to a 32GB card.

Well to help you out, AT%26amp;T doesn't offer a unlimited data plan at at. Only a 2gig data cap.

And if you have a contract plan that can support an iPhone (most likely the higher contract rate) then i'm sure you can just switch over your phone at the AT%26amp;T store, just go in and tell them you wanna switch, they'll be more than happy to help you out.

it will work IF the sim card AND phone are both from AT%26amp;T or if the phone is unlocked. The inspire allows you to turn mobile data on %26amp; off, so you'll want to make sure that it's always off or you'll get nailed with pay-per-use data charges and they aren't cheap. Your voice calling features and text messaging is all that will work. BlackBerries and iphones both require totally different Access Point Nodes (APN) in the network and the only way these APN's get provisioned is by having the correct data plan provisioned on the account. Your unlimited plan only activates the general APN and not the BlackBerry or iPhone one.
